The more we dig into these radios the more capabilities we find they have and also some exploits they also have.
A SIGINT.SYSTEMS on Instagram posted a great video of using a HackRF to record an SMS message from a Motorola XTS radio to another radio. The secondary radio would reply without the operator knowing. When he played the recording back the radio would reply every time he sent the signal. Doing this technique you can DF the radio while it keeps broadcasting without the operator knowing it. In this video is that same idea using a different feature on a DMR radio rather than a P25 radio.
