Field Exercise. Capturing A Power Plants Communications Frequencies

Ok first off, let’s get this out of the way. This is not illegal. They are transmitting on open DMR. All I am doing is listening to their communications. The exercise is finding an unknown frequency using the TinySA Ultra and AOR AR-DV10.

So first thing I did was put it on what is mainly UHF business frequency 450 MHZ TO 470 MHZ on the TinySA Ultra. Within 10 minutes I had 4 frequencies. I know 1 of the frequency was a data freq. I could see one I thought was a voice freq. I tuned the AOR AR-DV10 to that frequency. I had the AOR AR-DV10 put on the auto detect on. It will show you what digital mode they are using on that frequency. Once I knew it was DMR, I selected DMR on the AOR AR-DV10. At this point I had one of their main frequency with voice comms. It was cold so I didn’t go much longer.

If you look in the video you will see I have 4 frequencies written down. 2 of them I just couldn’t get quite narrowed down so I couldn’t get a positive ID of what was going on with those 2.

I do feel this was a pretty successful albeit quick field exercise.
