I talked about this in my HF Operations Class. I would say getting a direct contact on voice/SSB is like 40 to 60%, where using Digital is close to 90%. When you absolutely have to get a message through digital is where it’s at.

VarAC is probably my favorite digital mode right now.  I paid for the higher speed Vara HF modem since I use VarAC so much.
