I’m in Wyoming, also, and I have a mid-80’s Panasonic multi-band radio. Some local amateur operators saw it, and told me it’s decent. Also, I have very minimal antenna attachment facilities.
Short of moving, do you have any suggestions for a decent,
inexpensive, semi-permanent (and portable) antenna set-up? I’m
not an amateur operator, so a simple explanation would work best for me.
Is the 5.5000-6.000 freqency range unavailable to public listening? I didn’t see it on your listening lists.

Are you wanting the antenna for listening or for listening and talking?
Also here is the link for 5.500 to 6.000
