I will be doing some testing of the Uniden BCD436HP and Whistler TRX-1 scanners. My main test will be the Close Call/Spectrum Sweeper features using analog and digital radios. Supposedly if you have one of these scanners you can “instantly” pick up a unknown signal. I want to see if this idea is true or not and. We will see. Stay tuned.
I will be using the stock antenna on the scanner. After the first test I will put a better antenna on the scanners at 10ft.

you should test them to see how well they pick up DMR as well. I hear the whistler has a hard time doing that.

I was doing that last night. The Uniden has a lot harder time picking up DMR. So far it will NOT pick it up with the Close Call feature.
