Going Back To Physical Media

I’ve been buying physical books for years. I really don’t like reading on a Kindle. This year I have decided to start buying DVDs again. I seen the video below and thought that would be a pretty cool setup in my house. Maybe after Christmas I will attempt to put a setup like this together.

  1. I ended up defaulting to Kindle when my eyes started to weaken. The paperbacks that I have saved over the years are virtually illegible without magnification. That said, I don’t like the Amazon approach of granting you a “license”. What Amazon can grant, it can also take away. Remember when they pulled Orwell’s 1984? They later put it back on the menu after public outcry, but the potential will always be there. I missed the window to download my Kindle library to Calibre.

When ordering manuals and other tutorials, I try to stay with paper. Something Amazon can’t take away. I’ve never signed up for a streaming service for the same reasons. DVD’s are awesome and YOU own them. I’ll check out the video later, but THANKS!!!!

  2. You can “side load” all the books you want on Kindle. These files are untouchable by the nanny. Look up Calibre to manage your books on a computer. Then sync with your reader. Bobs your uncle!

  3. I’ve never heard of Calibre, but if you can put your Scam-a-zone© materials on to it, then I want it, for sure.

The ‘big A’ also won’t allow info transfer from an older (’12, so very old) Kindle device to anything else, and mine won’t even go online, anymore, because of its age.
