I discussed the encryption of these two radios on my Group Comms post. Here I have the computer menu for both the Baofeng DM1701 and the Anytone AT-D878UV. The DM1701 uses up to a 32 character encryption key. The AT-D878UV uses upto a 64 character encryption key for AES encryption that is compatible with the Motorola radio.
I’m not sure what it would take for someone to break a 64 character encryption key like the one in the picture but I can guarantee it would take State level entities to even come close. On the local level you and your tribe should be pretty safe with a 64 character encryption key like the one pictured. Keep this radio in mind while picking your comms equipment.
